I-Jam is a new MP3 player that will be available soon. This is the first I’ve seen with a built in radio as well.
Future enhancements include a Mac OS version, USB connectivity and higher memory capacity. Plus it comes in a choice of colours - very important.

Sun Plans New Chips

Sun is working on a new set of processors enhanced for multimedia and Java. Codenamed MAJC (Microprocessor Architecture for Java Computing) the chips are expected to be unveiled later this year. This is the first new Java optimised chips from Sun since the picoJava chips which have suffered from disinterest among third party manufacturers.

After Amiga’s shock announcement that they are to use the Linux kernel rather than QNX, a number of people have been speculating about the future of the Amiga. This article is the best yet, bringing together a number of seemingly disparate sources. In his ‘Response to Linux Feedback’. Jim Collas wrote: <q>An additional advantage of Linux is the fact that there are companies working on hardware components optimized for the Linux kernel.</q>. What hardware company do we all know that could perhaps be making Linux specific components. Can’t guess? How about one that employes Linus Torvalds?
